Beyond Acupuncture and Herbs

Prevention is the cure

Mission

Educate, support, and let go.

Developing a horizontal relationship between the practitioner and the patient is crucial for achieving positive and lasting results.
Tailor-made daily exercise routines that combine yoga poses, breathing techniques, qi gong sequences, and cardio workouts are a great way to introduce the educational aspect of the treatments. In this regard, it is vital to tailor the exercises to the patient’s specific condition. Recommendations on an everyday diet and eating habits will always follow. Lifestyle, dietary habits, emotional imbalances, and environmental factors contribute to the etiology of various illnesses. All these factors will be shared with the patient to introduce innovative and practical changes for both immediate and long-term recovery.

At Beyond Acupuncture and Herbs, our practices involve and promote an ancient massage technique called Tui Na, which predates acupuncture and is considered the father of all contemporary manual therapy styles, including physiotherapy, osteopathy, and massage therapy. It means “shake and vibrate” in Chinese and features over 60 manipulation techniques to create therapeutic vibrations throughout the entire body, which highly stimulate the nervous system. It is highly effective in initiating the healing response. I use fire cupping to create negative suction over the interstitial space, the gap between the skin and the muscle, to promote improved lymphatic flow and invigorate blood circulation. Moxa is a healing modality and the oldest kind of heat therapy that I often use where the practitioner burns the meticulously processed form of a plant called Artemisia Vulgaris or mugwort either in cones or small wooden boxes over on the patient’s body to relieve the adverse effects of tapped cold which is a prevalent issue as a result of the climatic conditions as in Canada. It is finally acupuncture that complements all the other modalities listed above. It helps energy flow smoothly and evenly throughout the body, removing stagnation and ensuring the proper functioning of the internal organs. It aims to restore the body’s functions rather than replace them. The soma(body) can heal itself with some support if given a chance, with adequate changes, especially in diet and lifestyle.
Depending on the condition of the patient, it may take just a few treatments to restore balance; however, in severe, chronic cases, treatment may need to be extended over time with multiple treatments.
